Since I've been reviewing GSP Rating entries I've received feedback regarding the GSPs that end up listed and the ones that don't. I'd like to open the discussion to the GSPRating.com community and gather a wider feedback on what makes a GSP listable and what not.

I realize this might bring some controversy, as there's a natural tendency to raise the bar by the owners already listed on the site, and respectively to lower the bar by those at the beginning of their business (or not listed yet). The community discussion won't be bidding but we'll consider the feedback and adapt to the consensus if any emerges.

I'd like to propose the following questions up for discussion:

1) Should a GSP be listed if their domain whois information is privacy-protected? (if the business fails there would be nobody to contact for refunds).

2) Should a GSP be listed if the domain name was registered less than 3 months ago? (about half of the entries no longer resolve properly after 6 months).

3) Should a GSP be listed if they don't own their machines?

4) Should a GSP be listed if they use WHMCS.com but whmcs.com doesn't confirm their license for it?

5) Should a GSP that previously spammed the GSPRating.com forums be given an entry on the site?

I'm looking forward to other criteria and your comments about them. Thanks!

1) I have my whois information to avoid being called and bothered. Some people(kids) like to harass or threaten with DDOS, a valid address or phone number just increase agitation. All payments are accepted through paypal, so if there is an issue with refunds than file a paypal claim. I'm sure you can do this with credit card too.
2) Yes, I agree. Think the rule of thumb is 3 months of profit/break even. So prior to that would be riskier for anyone to buy from.
3) Clarification of own? If they rent from a dedicated server provider, I don't see how thats an issue. its expensive to ship across the ocean just to colo. Renting is more realistic in that case. But say, reselling from NFO or another GSP, in my opinion I don't like it. I'd vote against those companies, but really there isn't anything wrong.
4) I'm using a discounted license, but it's a legitimate license. Unsure if it shows up on whmcs site, but it should. (I use licensepal). Saying that, if they are using a cracked version and can't afford or choose not to pay the 12.95-15 a month, they do not seem very honest. I would be against those companies.
5)Anyone who spams should not be allowed. Unless there was an automation issue that can be proven. Maturity should go a long way.

~bit tired, grammar is a bit off. But I hope my input helps

1.) Yes, privacy protection just stops the huge amount of spam that comes in.
2.) No, they are too new and haven't established themselves yet.
3.) No, how can you be a "game server provider" when you don't even have access to edit and self manage your own machines.. your a reseller, plain and simple, you are not a "game server provider".
4.) No, if you aren't paying for a legitimate copy of WHMCS or ClientExec then you shouldn't be listed. Almost all the crack copies out there have major security flaws that could jeopardize your clients privacy.
5.) No, if they spam, it shows that they aren't a mature company.
